yeah, rarely are their leaks found and glad you caught it before it destroyed itself. When I changed mine out for the first time, it had about 6k miles on it and wow, lots of fine shavings in it. Then after that, pretty clean. Like when it was new and getting broken in, is when it all happened. So if you are getting a whole new one, after 5-8k miles, you may want to replace it.
