Not true... All they need is a warrant and the info inside the RCM "Black Box"
is theirs... I’ve seen more than one person go to Prison from the information pulled from the “Black Box” when dealing with fatal crashes… At my former employer, I’ve personally witnessed and dealt with law enforcement wanting to now how to retrieve the information from the RCM in non fatal crashes. The information is not hard to retrieve and if the officer know the right people, he could have it in a flash no pun intended…
