? How is it the 5.2 FPC engine won the GS series against Camaro's in 2016? How is it the marginally lighter GT350 with 429 ft-lb torque able to out accelerate a LS7 Camaro Z28, which some GM's fans are saying makes 530 ft-lb? If so how is the Ford GT with just 550 ft-lb torque 2 seconds quicker around a track than a Z06 Vette with 650 ft-lb torque? Other than the GT is simply a far better racing platform.
Torque & Horse power combined make a great engine, favoring one or the other is foolish.
Frankly I think Ford is throwing GM a bone with the gearing on the 2018 Mustang. The Mustang is moving faster at the end of the quarter mile and out accelerates the LT1 Camaro beyond about 120 to the electronically controlled engine cut-off (155). All Ford really needs to do is shorten gearing a tad and the 5.0L get into the higher RPM a little quicker and it wins 0-60 and the 1/4 w/o the 10 speed auto.
