Our new 2018 Terrain has start stop. Martin is correct in that it is "smart" enough to work only under certain conditions and if certain validations are passed. The end result is that most of the time, start stop will happen each time you stop. Now, the Terrain has no simple way of defeating it, but it can be done. My wife has already learned that when you stop, if you come to a stop slowly with light brake pedal, or when nearly stopped, let off the pedal slightly, but enough to hold the vehicle and start/stop will never engage.

I've also read that if you just use the manual mode and put the Terrain into the highest gear that start/stop will never engage b/c while in manual mode it is turned off.

As for the eAssist. I like it, but I wish GM had upped their game a bit with more available electric TQ like RAM has done. An extra 90TQ on the V6 and 130TQ on the V8 sounds pretty nice to me. With the GM "twins" its around 45TQ I believe.
