I just don't understand why GM will not put the 10 speed in every Silverado and Sierra. How in the world continuing on with the 8 speed in the 5.3 makes sense over the 10 speed...who knows. Costs? I can't come up with anything.

I praise the 8 speed for how well of a transmission it is when it is working well. I actually love it in my Camaro SS, but lets get real here. The 8 speed has had LOTS of issues with the TC acting funny, or just needing to be replaced altogether. Not to mention, the 10 speed is just a better transmission. I am honestly a bit freaked that eventually the torque converter will just go out in my Camaro also, and likely after warranty is out would be my luck. Lets just all pray that GM has the kinks in the 8 speed worked out.

If my wife's 2018 terrain, which weighs 3,500 lbs and has a little 1.5lt turbo with 200tq can use a 9 speed (and it works well!), the 5.3 in the Silverado can use 10.
