Okay so I paid closer attention to it, the DRLs turn on at night and when I cover the light sensor by hand, but they do not turn on when just in exposed sunlight with the light switch in auto mode....

Thanks for sharing that -- great video. Looks like taking the tail-lights off as well would be the more thorough approach, although it does seem doable with leaving them in place as well.
