Go with the x-pipe/cat-back system. It'll be much better than the OEM resonator(s), especially if you have the L99 (can't tell from your info).

Unless the 2012 L99 has a different compression ratio (and it doesn't), 89 octane is not "just fine." While it won't damage your engine, it will rob you of horsepower, and I'm assuming you wouldn't...
