Why did they recommend it? Price? That is what you injected into this thread. That would be the reason a shop would do it if the owner wants pulleys done less costly.

I agree with ZME. I'd go lower and replace isolator. There are plenty of guys that had belt slip with upper, the trick is to go with a tried and proven belt as stated.
