My mechanic confirmed its the crank seal. Said he doesn't have tools to pull it, and that its leaking pretty dang good. :-/

Should I take it to the dealer?

Any idea why this happens ? I did a search and it seems like usually there's more damage than just the seal, although that looks to be the case in higher boost applications not my stock setup.

This is correct. You can't go from "D" mode to "hold and drop to lowest gear mode" without first putting the car in temporary manual shift mode with a click. I'm sure this is some kind of safety...
