I believe the shims are 3/8" so it is not a lot of drop. I did know about this before I pulled the trigger on it. I should be able to wrap this part of the install tonight. So far I have no concerns...

I would take the advise from the above and start with the ground cables. That may fix your problem which is a lot cheaper then buying a new starter.

I did both in parallel but to each their own....

Its not the pulley that broke, its the input shaft. You are going to have to send the unit back to Whipple and have them repair it.
