I would imagine the intake side helps a good bit, despite losing from less exhaust duration/lift. Being that they will build you whatever spec cam you want, would you have blended the LT1 cam's...

This cam isn't more "hot" than the stock LT4 cam, you get 12* more intake duration but 17* less exhaust duration.

Call Cam Motion, they can grind you a camshaft to whatever specs you'd like. You could add the exhaust duration of the LT4 and still use stock springs but get a bump in power.

That's a lot of work/money to go with a stock cam profile, your car would sound the same as it does now. Pick a mild camshaft that will at least net you some horsepower gains.

I probably wouldn't be able to get away with 12 psi without the cam. That would've been the time to do it, just wasn't quite in the budget back then.
