Agree, just make sure charger has a trickle function and it is activated, meaning it doesn't shut off once it detects full charge. The default mode for smart chargers is often to turn off.

Why don't you just use stainless? Stainless are sold as thermostat bolt "upgrade" kits. The fastener boxes in your local hardware store should have a decent variety.

A device like a trickle charger will draw a few amps...
