Would you recommend me taking it to a performance shop for engine repair work instead of the dealer now that my warranty has run out to avoid the tune issue?

Everyone has been saying that it's ok to leave the tune on as long as they aren't doing actual engine or transmission work. Evidently the tuner only says to return it to stock so that the dealer...

Ok. So things like tires and brakes are ok to not return to stock but anything heavier such as actual engine and transmission work would require a return to stock?

Do dealers mess with tunes if you don't return to stock before taking it in? I just don't want to end up with a bricked tuner. I'm not really familiar with what happens with tunes past putting them...

Will they mess with the tune if I take it in for work without returning it to stock though? I just don't know a whole lot about tuning past the actual putting it on the car.

Thanks man! Is there a reason other than warranty that I should return the car to stock when taking it in for work? Only reason I'm asking is because the guidebook that came with my tuner recommends...

I just installed a set of Stainless Power Long Tube headers with high flow cats. I have an SCT X4 tuner that I use to tune my vehicle for these LTs. I have to take my car in soon to get new tires...
