AEM AFR wideband not working

I installed the AEM AFR wideband gauge yesterday. The gauge powers on fine. I've rechecked the power and ground.

After engine start the gauge goes full lean and displays dashes. The sensor is heating up. I've checked for exhaust leaks. I even tried holding a gas soaked rag next to the sensor and I can't get it to read anything other then full lean. Are sensor problems out of the box that common? Research seems to suggest the possibility but a lot of the articles are a bit dated.

Has anyone experienced a similar issue recently?

I just ordered another sensor. I'll report back

Where in the exhaust did you install the 02 sensor?

I had an issue with my wideband AFR guage as well. It would power up and everything but no readings. I bought a ls4.9 sensor off of Amazon because the reviews said that the cheap sensor actually worked really well and tada! It has been working for the last year with no issues. I'm willing to bet that your sensor is just dead.

It's just after the collector in the connection pipe. I welded it in and pressure leak tested it.

I ordered another sensor I just haven't had time to mess with it lately.

Good to know. Thanks
