I don't think the OP is having battery trouble, I think it was just a "hey I'm curious about this" question. OP, please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Was that necessary?

It is a stocker battery, not sure what model but any cross-reference book should tell you.

Personally I always buy the highest cold cranking amps (CCA) available in the correct size. The battery is the last thing I want to worry about.

Are you having issues? Batteries are usually pro-rated if under warranty.

Given that the OP says he is from Dubai (in his profile) then yes the battery should be a concern. Out here in Phoenix car batteries are specially designed to handle the extreme heat. Even still these batteries last two years before the water has mostly evaporated. I would venture to guess the battery being in the trunk helps a little bit with this, we'll see how much in the next year.

Why was your comment necessary?

Optima batteries are by far the best bang for the buck. They with stand all temps and conditions.

The battery is in the trunk for better weight distribution. By all means, it's cheaper to stick it under the hood and run shorter cables to the fuse box. Thanks to GM for putting a little extra effort into our vehicles. But also know that you don't have to access the battery IN the trunk in order to jumpstart the car. There are posts in the engine bay--the positive terminal with the big red plastic cap, and the negative/ground terminal which is a post sticking out of the left fender/apron.

Replacement batteries can be found at any auto parts store, relatively cheaply. My strategy is to buy the one with the longest warranty. I'd only run an Optima if I was running a lot of accessory/sound equipment or for racing because I think they require a dry-cell battery (correct me if I'm wrong).
