First class win with the Camaro

I race mostly no prep, back of the track & street with my Camaro. This past weekend I was finally able to win the Daily Driver class at my local event the Street Car Brawl at US41 in Morrocco, In. This is is a back of the track event on a very course asphalt surface that is hard to get down quickly. In order of rds I beat a GPI nitrous c6, whipple gt500, whipple gt500 and then a nitrous c6z06 in the finals. I’m attaching some pictures, working on a YouTube video I plan to share in the future. Sidenote I used to primarily race my Ecoboost F150 on this surface but my better half took over those driving duties and won the AWD daily driver class. Pretty awesome both winning, the same day.

Whoa! Congratulations on the double win! I’ve been following your other thread on your build. It’s a great feeling to have a good day at the track. You & the better half keep at it..man this is freaking awesome!

Thank you all! I took out one of the class favorites first rd and thought I might have something the rest of the day and it definitely worked out. He beat me last event. Main difference was this time I was on e85 compared to 93 before, same boost levels 5-6lbs. Hopefully I can continue to creep up on the power and stay ahead for future events.

Awesome wins and a great spot. I was there 5 years ago for the LS1Tech SRK get together. Lots of fun and great people.

Can you divulge how fast your car is? Is your class no time also? Congrats to both of you.

More boost and more timing for sure.

What compression ratio are you running? On SBE, and E70+ @ 11.5 psi Im running 22 degrees at full boost.
Depending on your CR and the fact you have forged BE, I would think you should be in the low 20s AT MINIMUM for that boost level, maybe even high 20s if youve dropped your CR from stock... but it depends on many factors. I can only speak to my own experience. Please dont blow up anything because of what *I* say :) Pretty sure laynlo is running more timing than i am. |
I did not physically check when assembling the engine. When I asked Texas speed they said it was 11.7-1 with Lt1 heads and block. I said oh so it's higher than stock and they said no, when we've checked the factory stuff it's actually 11.9-1 so this is a little lower than stock. So that's what I went with. Heads have never been decked and its using stock head gaskets. I've felt like I should be able to run more timing but after spinning a rod bearing I've been trying to be cautious with the new setup. 22 degrees and 11.5lbs of boost definitely sounds like a good time though!
