Weld Racing RT-S

9 Attachment(s)
Fed Ex delivered my new 17" Weld RT-S wheels yesterday that I bought from McCormack Racing (see my review in the vendor feedback section). Yes, these are the 17x10 and 17x5, as recommended in the Weld fitment guide. But just wanted to say that I am thoroughly impressed with the quality and craftsmanship of these wheels. They look awesome!!! Initially, Weld Racing told me their RT-S wheels were not compatible with TPMS systems, but I discovered that if I used a Dill Air Controls all-metal valve stem (P/N VS-925C) and flipped the sensor upside down, it works great!! I can see that I will definitely need to tie back the emergency brake cables in the rear. And hopefully, I won't need to notch my rear LCA's if I keep my rear ride height at or above OEM height. I plan on getting the new BMR adjustable LCA's when my budget permits, but that probably won't be for a while. As it sits right now (suspension fully extended), I have about 3/4" between the rear LCA and the inner lip of the wheel. Just thought I'd share some pictures and say that I am very happy with my decision to go with the Welds.....(so far). NOW I JUST NEED TIRES!!!

Those look amazing... I've been looking at Weld wheels....

Do you know if this or a similar style is available in a 16 inch by say 10 or 11 inch wide wheel...
I'll replace the rear brakes...

Thanks for the compliment. Unfortunately, the RT-S wheels are not available in 16", they jump from 15" to 17". I think Bogart is the only manufacturer that makes a 16" that fits with the V6 brakes. Maybe CCW too?!?!?

Those look great. How much clearance around the Brembo calipers? I thought 18's were the smallest you could go.

Nope, 17" is as small as you can go without changing the brakes, but I think Weld and Bogart are the only 17's that will fit. To answer your question, I have about 1/4" between the outside of the caliper and the inner barrel of the wheel, and probably about 3/8" between the front face of the caliper and the back of the spokes on the wheel. However, If you're lowered at all, you will need to either notch your lower control arms or buy BMR's new LCA's which have pretty much been designed to be compatible with these exact wheels.

I have these same wheels on the back. My car has Eibach lowering springs. Droppd maybe 1 1/4". Still running unmodified stock lower control arms. E-brake cable tie down was the only mod needed. Thanks for pics, i need to order the front wheels next. That thing will look awesome!

Yep, CCW will make a set. Same ballpark as the Bogarts. I really wish Weld would step up and offer a 16" for the rear. Plenty of Bias Ply and Radial tire choices in a 16".

Couple questions if you don't mind. What is the weight and what is the cost? Thx

94guy 11-19-2011 08:17 PM

the weld wheels are nice but if your lowered and leave the line hard they will hit the lower arm hard.

SlowSS 11-19-2011 08:20 PM

Those are going to look real good!

Awesome looking wheels. You definitely made a great choice.
