Milky Sludge inside of Oil Catch Can and small amount under Oil Cap

I have a milky sludge build up and it's pretty heavy. Should I be worried? I looked at other threads with the same title and it does not look like my situation at all. Any tips guys? There were small little traces too under the oil cap but didn't look worrysome. Also checked the oil dip stick and its just fresh slick oil every time at the bottom.

Its condensation.

Do you take a lot of short trips?

The engine not getting up to proper temp and getting a good long run will cause this.

And how long did that take to build up like that?

You running E85?

Yes, I usually let it idle for about 2 minutes before I start doing my morning and afternoon commutes, most of it usually about a run time of about 10 minutes. It was like this for about 800 miles until I checked it last night.

It was about 800 miles across 3 weeks, had 1 trip about 300 miles.

No, just on 93 Premium.

Man, I've never seen anything remotely like that in my catch can. Been running one for a few years now (about 20k miles), and the only thing I ever see is a dark oily substance.

What I thought when I saw other threads on this, I am on 20W50 VR1 though.

The multiple very short trips are very tough on the oil (especially in a humid climate), but still seems excessive to me.

That much oil after 800 miles seems like the intake valley baffle issue.

This is typical of running E85; perhaps even if running E10 with regular pump gas. My catch can lines junk up with this tan baby poo stuff. Tough to clean and I've found brake cleaner to work best. I've noticed the colder the weather is, the more it accumulates. No so bad during the Summer months.

Alright, well I am in SE Louisiana with 20W50 VR1 oil which is a heavier oil. And the climate is starting to become cooler so that may be why. I was recommended 20W50 from my engine builder but was searching around to see if I could potentially use 15W40 or possibly even 10W40. But yes, it definitely seems excessive. I recently saw that my PCV on the passenger valve cover was plugged and the intake hole was also covered. So I will have to buy a rubber hose with a fitting to see if it fixes anything.

What do you mean by that? I did notice today that the PCV on the passenger side valve cover was plugged and the intake hole was covered. I ordered a new rubber hose and fitting to reintroduce it. I am not aware if it will change or affect anything.

Read this thread. It should help to explain. This is on a LS3.

Excess oil in the pcv system

Does the 2010 SS (6.2) have a catch can? Where is it located?
