2014 Nav vs 2015 Mylink w/Nav

According to the 2015 option list it looks like GM has dropped the 2014 $795 NAV option and replaced it with a Mylink Radio, or Mylink Radio with Nav, both of which are $0 options. This leaves me wondering if the Navigation function on the 2015's is a standard feature now? Or has GM linked the Nav function on the 15' to some sort of subscription service? Anyone know?

The nav now comes with the new PDR for 2015, an $1800 option for the system.

Stingray 09-12-2014 04:57 PM

Yup. For 2015, it's now pacakaged as a $1795 Nav+PDR option although standard with the 3LT/3LZ trim option. Subscription not required for Nav functionality although for MyLink's weather forecast functionality you will need to keep XM All Access subscription active after the free trial expires. I mention this because it can assist in your destination routes especially when inclement weather looms from city to city or state to state.

To SR-71'
I have a slightly different analysis of the situation.

The “2015-corvette-standard-optional-equipment.pdf” file obtained from this forum says:

The following is standard equipment on all model lines:

UE1 OnStar, 6 months of Directions and Connections plan
1 - Service not available with a ship-to of Puerto Rico or
the Virgin Islands. Visit onstar.com for coverage map,
details and system limitations. Services vary by model
and conditions.

The following is Standard Equipment on LT1 & LT2
Not available on LT3

IO5 Chevrolet MyLink audio system,
8" diagonal color touch-screen, AM/FM stereo with seek-and-scan and
digital clock, includes Bluetooth streaming audio for
music and select phones; Pandora, TuneIn radio,
Stitcher and Siri Eyes Free for compatible smartphones

The following is Standard Equipment on LT3
And available on LT1 & LT2

IO6 Chevrolet MyLink audio system with Navigation,
8" diagonal color touch-screen, AM/FM stereo with
seek-and-scan and digital clock, includes Bluetooth
streaming audio for music and select phones; Pandora,
TuneIn radio, Stitcher and Siri Eyes Free for compatible
Smartphones

This says nothing regarding the Performance Data Recorder being required or included with navigation. Navigation does not come with the PDR but nav is required if the PDR option is selected.

The following is Standard Equipment on LT3
And available on LT1 & LT2

UQT NEW! Performance data and video recorder
1 - Included and only available with (IO6) Chevrolet
MyLink audio system with Navigation.

Note that the PDR is a $1795.00 option and Navigation is a $0.00 option. While the text in the PDR option description is confusing, I don’t think that Chevy would require one to purchase the PDR just to get Navigation.

Back to Navigation and subscriptions.

OnStar offers several levels of service: “Basic”, “Safe & Sound”, and “Directions & Connections”. As noted above “Directions & Connections” which includes navigation, is standard equipment on all trims for 2015 (only a 6 month, free trial subscription). So if one selects option “IO6 - Chevrolet MyLink audio system with Navigation” you will have navigation for 6 months. After that you must purchase an OnStar subscription plan. The Directions & Connections plan costs $29.90 monthly or as little as $20.25 a month for a 3 year subscription (only $729 !!).

I hope I haven’t bored you and I may be incorrect, but that’s the way I see it.
Anybody else have a different opinion?

I believe what is confusing to people is that when you go to the Chevrolet "build your own" web site, for the selection
Chevrolet MyLink®1 Radio with Navigation2
it shows $0. However, if select it and you look at the price calculation, it adds $1795 automatically. If they are in fact allowing for a MyLink with Navigation for no additional charge without the PDR, this would be fine and they would need the next selectable option be something like "Chevrolet MyLink with Performance Data Recorder" and show a charge of $1795. Otherwise the $0 needs to be changed to $1795.

Their "Build Your Own" website needs a fixing!!:rules:

monicatomokc,
A good observation.

I also noticed when I went to the Chevrolet "build your own" web site that the PDR is not listed as an option. And there was a discrepancy between the prices on the options list and the “Options Total”. Guess what? The difference is $1795 !!!

I went back and clicked on the description of “MyLink with Nav” and found the following:

Chevrolet MyLink®1 Radio with Navigation2
This system adds the convenience of navigation2 to the Chevrolet MyLink1 infotainment system.
  • Connect up to 10 mobile devices with Bluetooth®3 technology
  • Stream music with your mobile phone from online sources like Pandora®4
  • Operate the system, including its navigation functions, via voice command or its menu-driven, 8" diagonal color touch-screen
  • Touch-screen display is motorized power up/down to reveal hidden storage
  • It also includes the Performance data and video recorder
1 MyLink functionality varies by model. Full functionality requires compatible Bluetooth and smartphone, and USB connectivity for some devices.
2 Map coverage excludes Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and portions of Canada.
3 Go to www.gmtotalconnect.com to find out which phones are compatible with the vehicle.
4 Data plan rates may apply.

There at the last bullet is mention of the PDR !!

I guess that someone higher on the food chain (at GM?) will have to provide an “official” answer to SR-71’s question, and the Nav / PDR situation.

I plan to visit a dealer this week and hopefully get more information on this item. Also... am I missing something or did the Performance Exhaust Option get dropped in 2015?

oaibob 09-15-2014 11:11 PM

The bump in the base price was to cover the NPP exhaust as it is included

2010IOM 09-16-2014 06:54 PM

NPP exhaust is still an option for non Z51 cars...But is now included with the Z51 package

SR-71 09-23-2014 09:09 PM

GM online tech support was able to provide some good information. Both the MyLink and MyLink with NAV radio might show a NAV icon on the screen, but only the MyLink with NAV radio actually includes the functional GPS. There is no subscription service required for this MyLink NAV function and it does not rely on an OnStar subscription either. If you are planning on buying a 2015 C7 and are unsure whether you have the NAV function, [as AUX_man notes above] look for the IO6 option. In my case I had visited the dealer but didn't look close enough at the options on the window sticker, but I was able to give the GM online rep the VIN number and they were able to immediately send me the complete build sheet. They were very helpful. Looks like a 2015 Shark Gray C7 will be in my garage soon!

Sigelitest 06-07-2015 10:51 AM

So I have to have on star to have the nav on my 1lt.
I understand better now lol let me try this question again.

Sigelitest 06-09-2015 10:37 AM

I heard that you can add nav to the car later. there is some plug in part and a software update that is required. has anyone done this? and how do you do it?
