Why should Notre Dame go to the playoffs?

There should not be any playoffs this year.

I was thinking the same for pro sports. It's all about the money yet for the college those athletes are not compensated. One of my clients is a pro footballer with Super Bowl ring who opted out for this year because he did not want to run the risk of taking the virus home to his family. He may well be one of those with some common sense. Notre Dame is a cheap shot.

What I is off about the playoffs are the national rankings to begin with.

To the OP, ND should not go to the Playoffs. But what happens if any of the top 4 ranked teams gets a lot of key players with Covid and have to sit out in the playoff game. It will be a disappointment and bust for College Football, IMO. We saw ND beat Clemson when Clemson had it's key players out, and when they played again, we saw what Clemson can really do. What if Alabama loses it's QB, RB and 2 Offensive linemen to Covid? If that happened, what is the expectation, and how does that impact the fans and the "well that wasn't fair" arguments?

As a fan of a team that's in the playoffs, the playoff is a freaking disaster this year.

They could have (should have?) skipped this whole year and just had Alabama play Clemson for the championship. Because that's what is going to happen anyway and that is what was always going to happen.

Add one more week so it’s an 8 team playoff and then we can let some of these questions settle themselves on the field.

Cinci is a good team but when you match these kinds of teams against the Power 5 Conferences the out come isn't usually good.

Like one of the talking heads said on CBSSN if they (the Bearcats)win their Bowl game this year and go undefeated next year they might well be considered.

BTW BYU 10-1 with one loss on the last game of the year should have had consideration.

They anihilated the Black Knights last night in Boca Raton Bowl.
