if you walk away from it, it’s not a crash...it’s just a rough landing.

So either Danica somehow now has a pilots license or Dale had something on Clinton. :smiling1:

NTSB just reported that the plane bounced high off the runway several times. The last time it bounced the right landing gear collapsed.

2 pilots looking for jobs and an insurance company out about $20M

Are you just assuming pilot error or have you completed your investigation? Is it possible the pilots are the reason they’re still alive? Do you have any insight on this?

As a lonely GA pilot with about 400 hrs. I say... If they bounced 3 times , that says to me that they came in with too much airspeed and porpoised a few times, each one bigger than the last.

They should have aborted and went around. Sounds like they continued trying to force it down , rather than going around.

But yeah, we have to wait for the official findings, but that was my first thought.

I hate to think there was that much stupid going on in that cockpit. Either way, I’m just gonna leave it at glad they all walked away.

Since you are a pilot, I have a question. Both Elizabethton - 09A and Tri Cities - TRI are within 25 min drive to race track and within 12-15 mile of each other. Both are located close to the same amenities in the general area, hotels, restaurants, etc. Why chose Elizabethton with ~4600' runway over TRI Cities with ~8000' runways. I lived within 3 mile of the raceway for a few years a long time ago but had flown into Tri Cities on several occasions.

No clue. I am in CA, I am not familiar with that area. Also it was probably more of a personal reason rather than an aviation one.

I was thinking the same thing. The plane was a Cessna Citation Latitude. According to the specifications it requires 2480 Feet to land and 3580 Feet to take off. 4600 Feet is within the limits but seems to be pushing it.

The most useless thing to a pilot is the runway behind him......

WOW that had to be a scary situation inside the plane, TG Dale & Family walked away
