Guesses at actual certified Corvette Stingray HP/TQ numbers?

So Chevy's estimate is 450hp / 450lb-ft

...and we know that when Chevy says "estimated power is..." they really mean "it has way more than...." :D

My guess is 460hp / 460lb-ft.

Deki 01-17-2013 01:14 AM

I'm going to guess it's going to be a lot closer to the current Z06, just like the C6 base car was close to the C5 Z06. I'm going to guess 480/480.

Your taking RWHP right? Because a C6 Z06 has 505 at the crank

The Stig 01-17-2013 08:45 AM

1 hp / 1 tq

:D

imported_KKreme15 01-17-2013 08:49 AM

480/468

Bad@ssCamaro 01-17-2013 08:57 AM

at the crank 475/470

I see what you did there ;)

Scott@Bjorn3D 01-17-2013 09:33 AM

470/460

FenwickHockey65 01-17-2013 09:41 AM

470ish HP.

guiLT 01-17-2013 09:43 AM

I'll go between 470 and 480 HP.

v6sonoma 01-17-2013 10:15 AM

I'd say 470hp/470tq at the crank. That seems like pretty decent bump while leaving enough room for a Z06 to add another 50hp or so down the line without taking a major MPG hit.

Stingray 01-17-2013 12:49 PM

465hp / 460tq

I'm going with this.

2010SSRSM6 01-17-2013 02:39 PM

As long as it is over 430, I'm good, er the wife's good. :D Well at least until Magnuson gets their SC kit out for it. I'm not sure how this DI thing is going to work with a supercharger.

imported_Joker 01-17-2013 04:01 PM

490 / 470 I'm going with.

imported_GretchenGotGrowl 01-17-2013 05:28 PM

490-515 HP/475-500 TQ.

I think you nailed that one on the head.

When I read it it just works.:D

Not that I wouldn't want more; I just rather not be let down. :o

No I'm talking crank hp/tq. 480/480 sounds good to me, it would still allow the C6 Z06 to be the better performer between the two with lighter weight, more power, and larger contact patch, and it would give the newest generation Z(whatever) vettes lots of room to grow in the power department.

My honest guess, for the big dog vettes when they do come out, is going to be 600+hp, plus much bigger tires than what they offer on the base car (255/285).

2cnd chance 01-17-2013 07:09 PM

475/475

There is some logic to my madness. First, you don't add DI, higher CR and VVT to an engine and only see 20 HP. On top of that the C5 Z06 was 405 HP and the C6 LT was 430 HP. So, doesn't seem like GM has a problem with the base model making more than the prior generation performance/track model. Would be nice, wouldn't it?

I like your logic. I do get your drift and certainly hope your right

OctaneZ28 01-17-2013 09:10 PM

It's tough to guess.
DI, high CR, and VVT are good for power. However AFM is bad for power.

But I have a hunch that we will be pleasantly surprised. :)

Camaro_Corvette 01-21-2013 12:38 PM

475/470

Two years later.

485/480

Vette TPI 01-21-2013 12:42 PM

I'd have to think they would make 450/450-470/470 and then go up another 30 in a couple years like they did when they went from LS2 to LS3 :D 500/500  One can dream!

Thats one fast base model.

FenwickHockey65 01-21-2013 01:00 PM

Already at a sub-4 second 0-60. :D

GaBoy25 01-21-2013 01:10 PM

Jeremy Clarkson is going to have himself a fit.

FenwickHockey65 01-21-2013 01:14 PM

He'll find something to complain about, but deep down he loves Corvettes. He went nuts over the ZR1 he drove.

As far as I know, Jeremy has never drove a car that he calls perfect.

He stated he love for the c6 vert as well. You see that goofy grin on his face; clearly almost pissed at the fact he likes it that much.

I love when a car just shuts you the **** up:eek:

It wasn't total hate, but there wasn't much love either. but he obviously didn't have the traction control on at any point in this video.I'm at work so this may or may not be the right one.

^^ I laughed so hard watching him try to keep up with the Audi on those corners. I'm still laughing now as i type this. :)

One of the oddest comparisons I've seen.

GaBoy25 01-21-2013 03:18 PM

Here's a quote by him concerning the zr1.

"It's hard to understand how the Americans have taken so long to make a car this good. They can make space shuttles and computers, so they must have had the ability to make a genuine world-beating car for years. Only now, though, have they decided to actually go ahead and do it."
