Nice, I watched a stock demon run a 10.1 at the Hot Rod Magazine 70th Anniversary drag day.

It’s a neat car for sure, but man those wheel well extensions look truly dreadful.

Kyle2k 11-21-2018 09:23 PM

The radials and skinnies are a package with the Demon....so it is stock

rocket403 11-22-2018 09:05 AM

In the video description is states that the front tires and rims where changed out so not sure to what, I have seen that Demonology has changed his front to rims and they look the same but weigh not much at all.

The crate, with the “not legal” DR, tireless skinnies and second computer are not sold with the car. They are available through the parts department for $1 and shipped to your home.

Here’s how C&D described it.

Quote:

Quarter Pounder, Car and Driver - June 2017

Those tires (skinnies), known as "runners" in the drag-racing world, are part of the gymnastic loophole squirm Dodge had to perform to get past its own lawyers. They are not street legal... The car will come with a voucher that entitles the buyer to purchase a big box called the Demon crate from the parts department... Critically, though, the crate is sold separately from the car and doesn't even come with the tires. "The wheels don't come with the car, they're not on the car, and we don't even give you the tires," says Kuniskis.

There's more legal sleight-of-hand in the weaponized power plant... In addition to the wheel-swapping kit, the Demon crate contains a replacement engine controller that contains programming for race fuel and a new climate control panel with a 100-octane button.
Technically, it would be like Chevy charging an extra $10k for a drag race ZL1 the gives you a voucher to go to the parts department to buy the not street/EPA legal drag race package for $1 to put on the car yourself.

Would that be “stock”?

So it took this guy spending $100,000.00+ on the car and over 500 passes, different front wheels and a private test session that was more than likely prepped like they do with rvw the whole length of the track just to break into the 9's??? For that amount of money I'd have a bickel or mcamis purpose built race car.

rocket403 11-22-2018 02:28 PM

That can be driven home from the track, and be happy on the street.

I don't have a purpose built race car but what I do have is a car that only likes 100+ octane race fuel to use WOT. It idles like a bitch and the headers cook the starter gets 5 to 6 mpg and runs quite well for what it is. When it was built 20 years ago it was a rocket LOL so now I have different ideas I like the Demon.

Tomorrow is the big day.

I ran a couple Demons, 1/8 mile, last November. Both were E85, cam, headers, cold air intake, tune and on MT ET Street R 315/50x17 rear and skinny fronts.

One ran 6.19 and the other 6.33. As you see from my sig, I ran 6.29.

I find it hard to believe a stock Demon can run sub 10 seconds unless it is a pro driver.

...and a fully prepped track with optimum weather conditions like the "hero-run" they did prior to the release.

FYI: After you run a sub-10, you'll be kicked off of the track unless you have hacked up your $90k Demon and installed an NHRA-Approved cage in it.
Wuuh, wuuuuuuuuhhh!

New rules state all that is needed is a 6 point role bar for modern cars.

rocket403 01-16-2019 07:23 AM

There are some reporting that the 2020 Challenger Angel will have 919hp with reduced weight and run close to 9.0
