Corvette LT1 engine mods and bolt-ons

How much potential is there to squeeze more power from the LT1 with mods and bolt ons?

I love how high tech all the new engines are but with all the fancy direct fuel injection, rev matching and cylinder deactivation it makes me think that the days of slapping on a CAI for a few horses might be over.

I'm betting long-tube headers and a cold-air intake will do wonders.

Then you just have to worry about check engine lights with the LT's :D

I agree. I know it's not a direct comparison because of lack of AFM, but the v6's have had VVT and DI for years now and back before they went to the new design without exhaust manifolds, you could get good power from the v6 with just headers, CAI, tune. I'd imagine it wouldn't be that different from the LS3 in that aspect... Depends too on how restrictive their cat-system is on the LT1.

Agreed. The biggest difference is going to be how AFM plays along.

With a 0-60 like we have heard about and a time I'm sure will be improved upon is exciting. It's going to scream off the showroom floor:sad:

Direct injection is going to be huge but also a very large learning curve for those who haven't been playing with it already. Thats why I jumped on the v6 camaro wagon early. I wanted to learn this technology from gm. The cam phasing is nothing new and we'll see big gains from cam swaps just like we do now. But tuning is going to be huge for this motor. I can see this motor squeezing out 475rwhp with heders, exhaust, intake and tune.

I'm sure that AFM can be turned off with a tune like they do on so many L99's.
I've never figured out why they turn it off though.
I mean if you can save gas and then go like a bat outa hell whenever you want to......what's the point of de-activating it?
