Trans cooler on LT1
Question for you guys who have a Camaro LT1 A10 without the factory installed trans cooler. Have you installed one? Which one? Location? How about ordering the factory SS trans cooler and mounting it exactly like the SS does, will that work? Talk to me people!

I believe the 10 speed auto LT1 has the trans oil cooler mounted horizontally behind the front bump cover down low.

Well SOB there it is! I'm almost in disbelief!
What is the RPO code for that cooler do you know? I looked at an LT1 right here in town yesterday. I looked down through the hood latch and wondered if the plastic down there could be the location for mounting the cooler on the SS. Little did I know at the time, maybe I was staring through the holes of the cooler! I have the build sheets for the car I looked at yesterday and also another car up in Putnam. I could not find anything on those sheets describing a trans cooler. Oh, and VERY nice pics thank you! I do all my own work too. Here's the big old bastard I used on old 4th gen. Summit Racing made it  |
Yeah the trans cooling is both in the main radiator plus the lay down cooler in the bottom of the front nose. Transmission cooling was taken seriously by the Camaro team and it’s rock solid in that regard.

Well I guess if I pick up and LT1 I don’t have to worry about installing a trans cooler. Now my next question lol, does this mean the LT1 also got the cooler lines going to the differential??? |

Well this is interesting. There’s no way to know if every LT1 comes with the trans cooler and I’ve looked like 3 times through this 2023 brochure.
