Had to apologize to the Camaro

Three weeks ago, the wife got a 'New to Her' 2013 Ford Escape to replace the 2003 Ford Explorer she had been driving. It's Ruby Red and has the 2.0 Ecoboost (240 hp / 270 tq) FWD. The stupid thing has 70 MORE hp and 15 MORE foot pounds tq than my 1989 RS 5.0 had (170 hp / 255 tq). All from an engine less than half the size of the 3rd gen's.
The last two weeks on all of my days off, I have been detailing the exterior of the Escape, repairing the abuse the previous owners put it through (swirls, scratches and faded paint galore). Not to forget the rims have baked on brake dust that I'm slowly cleaning off with Meguiar's Ultimate Compound and an old microfiber. It's taking forever though. I think I'm going to buy a Mother's Power Ball drill attachment, this "by hand" stuff is for the birds. I had to apologize to the Camaro, because for the last two weeks, it has been sitting dirty in desperate need of a wash while I worked on this FORD. Here are the results: Polished with Turtle Wax HS Polish & Wax, followed a week later by two coats of TW Pro Flex Wax (12 hours apart). The pics from my phone don't do it justice though, to the eye, in the sun it looks like a jewel. |
Looking good! I took tomorrow off of work to bust out the orbital and do some cutting and polishing of my Camaro so that I can get some ceramic on it for the GM Nationals
Adam's has a good deep wheel cleaner that should help get the rust and metals off the wheels |
Well done sir!! Looks great, and loving the color..

Whew, I thought you were going to tell us she beat you in a drag race with the Escape...
