The counter EV argument

Nothing really new here other than the break even for emissions is out closer to 100,000 miles.

Only counter argument I need: I'm not buying one

Not surprised at all.

I feel electric cars aren't much more than another scam/agenda pushed by a lying government and media.

Any Palmer wrote an opinion piece in the Financial Times, i pasted a good quote from the article:

Hydrogen, for example, could outperform batteries for efficiency when it comes to heavy goods vehicles and long-haul buses. Synthetic fuels may well continue to provide the drama, noise and excitement that make sports cars so special. And there will no doubt be engineers and scientists whose research will see them stumble upon the application of an environmentally friendly fuel that no one previously thought possible. In other words, politicians must avoid putting all of their eggs into one glovebox.

I've been saying this for years... EVs are simply shifting the application of resources and are not necessarily more efficient vs ICE all things considered.

The main issue is we can't have billions of folks driving around 2-ton vehicles everywhere they go on a whim with no regard to it's true cost.

If you want an EV that actually uses less resources vs an ICE, that would be an electric bicycle.

Yeah, skip the EV push and ban school sports. All these moms and dads carting these kids around to games and practices. Useless. About 0.001% of them will go on to careers in athletics, while about 60% will just join the ranks of America's worst healthcare crisis-- OBESITY!
Oh, and I carted my kids too. But I knew the reality.

EVs were never going to be a workable or affordable alternative or choice.

They are a distraction and rouse to achieve the destruction of the U.S. fossil fuel industry regardless of the consequences to U.S. citizens.

Yep...exactly. China's agenda.

sandm 11-19-2021 11:26 AM

ev's fit a need for some and if used in the right way, can be a net zero on the environment once they are put into service.

ex- guy at work has a tesla model 3. he works overnights. he charges his car during the day off his solar on his house. that's environmentally good for the world compared to ice's.

but that's not everyone....

in the end, I think ev's can coexist with ice's but to sell the as the end all be all... that's not speaking the whole truth on how treehugger-friendly they really are...

What's better than having a massively subsidized fuel industry for ICE? Building a massively subsidized market for electric vehicles on top of it. Government is not your friend, nor smart. Think of them as HR at work, unneeded, pretty much useless and no one is really sure what they actually do.
