Corvette E-Ray

I know this is not a Corvette forum, but we keep talking about the end of the Camaro. Look it's getting to be the end of the ICE Corvette too...

If I was CEO, I'd keep the ICE muscle cars. Maybe a niche market, but a profitable one, and nostalgia is forever. That's what brought the camaros back. If any ICE cars will be around for a long time it'll probably be the muscle cars and maybe off road types. Only one guy ever said anything bad about my cammed 2SS, too loud. But he was right, the borla axleback was a bit too loud, even for me.

That article is talking about a hybrid not an EV. It’s got AWD, a 6.2L LT2 V8 engine and an electric motor too. Interesting, but beyond my budget.

Yes I know and that is why I said in my OP " It's getting to be the end". After hybrid comes full on EV.

Ya.. out of my budget for any car too. lol

I'd prefer calling it an E-Vette.

Can’t hate on it. I like when hybrid technology is used to better performance. Especially when you get to keep the v8 soundtrack as well. Tbh what would keep me from getting it (if I had the funds of course) is that I prefer rwd over awd.

This is no secret. GM is aiming for, what, 2040 to be fully electric? The whole industry...

E-Ray is cool but I'm not (nor would I think most folks on this forum or the Corvette forums) the target market. It costs almost as much as a Z06 and $40k premium over a Stingray. They're trying to capture a new market and I think it's a good strategy. Just not for me. I am, however, all about the Z06.

2035 is the target. https://www.autoweek.com/news/green-...icles-by-2035/

Paid over $100,000 for the 2016 Z06 Z07 pkg convertible in 2016.... Sticker was over $116,000.

Paid $75K for my 2016 3LZ M7 from MacMulkin. (Top left in the pic below.)

Paid $79K for my 2019 2LZ M7 from Hendrick.

Paid $71K for my 2021 ZL1 1LE A10, CPO.

Will gladly pay $160K for a 2026 Z06. Just waiting for the first 2 years to shake out any gremlins and let the market settle. Now if the economy turns and GM offers 20% OFF MSRP again, then I’m in ASAP.

The ERAY is a unbelieveable car that you will not have to plug in. Having your cake and eating it with all the ruckus of the LT2 plus 160 electric horses driving the front wheel. A awd ball of fire 2.5 sec to 60, 10.5 sec to the 1/4 mile.

arpad_m 01-17-2023 09:58 PM

A very nice car indeed.

jamala00 01-18-2023 05:31 AM

If it wasn't out of my price range I would own one. I really want a C8 and I keep looking at the used market, but they are just out of my price range. I think a ZL1 would be about the top of my price range. If I could get a good optioned C8 for the price of a ZL1 I would.
