THE FUTURE OF ELECTRIC CARS?

I'm just curious on everyone's thoughts on electric cars now that we know there carbon footprint really isn't any different from a gas engine, especially when you factor in the mining for lithium.

I just had a friend that needed a replacement battery in there EV and it was $20,000. The shop wanted another $5000 disposal fee for the old battery and most tow companies will not tow an EV, he called a bunch before he found one that would tow it. Me personally will never own an EV, I would much prefer the sound of a V8 engine any day and there is many corporations out there that are working on cleaner burning fuels right now.

Most EVs sound good "on paper". Unless they can lower the cost of ownership and make EVs as practical and reliable as ICE vehicles, I believe that the novelty will wear off and ultimately EVs may be rejected by our automotive market.

I think EV'S are a long long way from being practical for 90% of people, at this moment. lack of infustrusure, cost, battery issues from range limitations, catching on fire, disposal. I live in the rural Midwest not practical out here, maybe someday but when consumers are ready then great, but the Government forcing these on us is the wrong way to go.
