I THINK MY COUSIN BURNT MY CLUTCH OUT :(
Today my cousin drove my car, i knew he shouldn't have let him behind the wheel, but I thought everything would be okay. My cousin floored the pedal while holding the clutch in and took the revs all the way to the red line!!!! my car started smoking and it had a horrible smell after. The smell is still there but the car is riding okay and nothing is missing or seems out of place. I just want to know if anyone else has done this and is my car okay?!!??! help please!

Oh that horrible smell. Sorry to hear that. Wish I could offer input but all I know is that smell means the clutch is burning.

You may start to notice the clutch slipping (premature wear) - or not. If you do, you'll know why. :facepalm:
I don't even want the dealership techs driving my car. If that's ever necessary, I will ride with them. |
:yikes::yikes::yikes::yikes:

Is this your cousin???

Well that was test 1. Lmfao And everybody just watching him trash it:facepalm: who needs enemies. I never, ever, ever let anyone drive my car. I get shit from family and stuff, but I'm the only one with zero damage on their car. |
Wow that's just horrible!
|
it should be fine. a clutch is like your brakes, they gradually wear over time. he just took shortened that time a little bit for you. but if don't do it a lot it won't noticeable shorten the life of your clutch.
the thing about doing stuff like that isn't that it instantly destroys your car. it's more that your a lot of stress on a lot of different parts and are pretty much causing premature wear on them. |
Another reason I went with the auto. I know, someone will give me another reason why I'm wrong. Shoot.
|
nothing wrong with an auto. but, if you have problems with a MT your usually just looking at a new clutch. with an auto, it gets much more complicated and most of the time more expensive, and involves a trip to a dedicated transmission shop as where any garage can replace a clutch.
but me, I just like MT's, more fun to drive. |
