Launching Tips (A8 Bone Stock)

How are you guys getting a good 60'. I recently went to the track and ran 12.35 @115 with a 2.15 60' and want to drop in to 1.8 or 1.9. How are you guys launching. What revs? What mode? Traction on or off? Launch control? What kind of burnout did you do, etc anything you think can help improve my 60' hoping to get low 12's 11.90's stock.

2016 Auto SS. Track mode selected. (traction control off, stabilitrack on). No launch control used. No change in tire pressure. Mild burnout, i read the stock tires dont need/dont perform any better with a big burnout. Left foot on brake, other foot slightly pushing on gas to bring the RPMs up slightly (but not enough to do another burnout or anything crazy). Light goes green foot off the break and other foot to the floor. lucky my track was prepped decently and there was little to no spinning. I am by no means an expert tho just what i did for my case.

Best way I can tell you....

*22-24psi in the tires...
* Good burnout through the water box (rear wheels only get wet NOT the front)
* Track Mode
* Stabilitrack off
* Make sure you barely clip the 2nd light on the tree when staging...
* When ready (Now this all happens in miliseconds) Let off break so it just starts to roll and pedal to the floor... If your track is prepped well this formula should get you at least 1.9
* Practice!

I have been racing for years and it took me 3 to 4 track days to get it down pact...

Look at my video I posted maybe you can see some of the steps in action... In my video I had on Nitto NTo5 same size 275 profile and yes they are a tad stickier than stock but honestly not that much...

I went as low as 1.77 60ft on the stockers and 11.70's. I basically use the above described technique. But I brake stall up to right around 2K, this almost locks the converter on the line and allows you to drive the car like a stick. You take the converter flash out of it which causes wheel spin. Let it roll out for a millisecond and smash it. In D if the tires spin at all it will short shift to 2nd. So be careful with throttle application if your track prep just isn't there.

My technique is just like Pray. I heat the tires 2 seconds ish, not a John Force burn. Depends on ambient temp. Pre stage, let the other car pre stage, creep forward for stage lt. The average RT for a human is .35-.50, the light is .4, if ya see green yer late. When I see the 3rd yellow light I go. Try it out. I have had many .00 RT and that is perfect.

Good advice for bracket racing. I personally only race for fun and never care about RT. That's one less thing to worry about when trying to launch these cars.

Just about all the advice given so far has been spot on so I'll just add my .02 and talk about rollout. If you are looking for the best ET and not worried about reaction time then shallow staging is your best bet. You can increase your rollout (the time it takes before your timer starts) by pre staging and then creeping up until the staging bulb flickers on, you will have approx 6 inches or so to roll into the guard beam before your time starts. The 2nd pic below shows the 3 chalk marks.

My 11.80 pass in my Sig if a good visual of shallow staging, watch the bulbs. We need more members in the 11 second club so make it happen !!!

Go watch all my launch videos of my runs yesterday. There are 5 videos of the burn out and launch.

Laynlo has figured the magic, I started learning his technique and took .2 off my 60'. Pay attention...
