Greetings from Headlight Armor!

Protecting your headlights and even add color to them in the process is wildly popular these days and we would like to think we have helped that trend along by supplying a number of well know vendors servicing other makes. We will strive to directly provide the Corvette Community with the highest quality lighting kits, first-rate customer service and of course highly competitive prices!

Consider the cost of replacing a damaged composite headlight these days - $hundreds of dollars EACH in most cases. Adding a layer of protection against the elements is a good idea - plus these are much easier to maintain than old fashioned clip on covers, which are just as susceptible to pitting as your headlights and susceptible to theft. While other companies may use thinner 2-3mil sign vinyl (know as overlays), 8mil paint protection film, or older thicker versions of 40-120mil vinyl we have found that our 15 mil films offer the best combination of protection, ease of install, along with long term performance.

We use a tough high performance vinyl that is designed to protect the lens first and foremost. Our lighting protection kits are manufactured from a 18 mil thick material for maximum protection and a long service life. For those of you with a clear bra, these are 3X thicker on average. Granted we are not talking about magic deflector shields and if you hit something big enough, going fast enough you run the risk of putting a hole in your headlight or fog light – no matter what you have covering it!

The application is pretty straightforward – we have some DIY Install tutorials on our site here. We have a full night Headlight Protection kit test session here. We also have a wide variety of installed photos in our various galleries on the site (links are on the top left of the site).

All of our Headlight & Fog Light Protection kits are available in Clear, HID Blue and GT Yellow along with 3 shades of smoke. The Clear headlight protection kits started it all. A classic clear layer of nearly invisible protection that will help protect your expensive headlights and help keep them from ending up pitted and frosted from all the sand blasting the front of the car is subjected to.

The HID Blue Headlight Protection Kits are designed to shine through bright white. The HID Blue covers give non-HID lamps the whiter HID look while protecting your lenses! Great for those with HID’s already too!
The GT Yellow Headlight Protection are used in various global sports car racing series’ and on GT production based road racing classes in the US to set them apart from other classes. They also simulate the 'French Fog' headlights and provide better visibility in rain, snow and fog - all while protecting them from flying debris. Gives your vehicle the racy I'm coming through look!

We also offer three versions of Smoked headlight Protection kits. Our 50% Light Smoke is for those who are looking for a more useful subtle smoked look. The Standard Smoke Headlight Protection kits are as dark as ~30% window tint on our meter. We also have an even darker Stealth Smoke version which allow just ~20% light transmission and look very dark when installed - great for show cars and track cars that are never run at night.

We operate on a mass customization manufacturing to order model. This means that once you place an order on our site it is checked, entered into our production queue and each item is custom manufactured just for you! Under normal circumstances orders place by 2PM CST/CDT are shipped out the same day via USPS First Class Parcel, Priority Mail or Express Mail. The base rate s/h is the same for all 50 states and US Territories BTW. We also offer free USPS priority Mail shipping to APO / FPO addresses on all orders no minimum.

Between now and the December 19th (12/19 at 11:59PM CT) we are offering free domestic shipping on all lighting protection kits! We are also including 1 free 2PK of suede microfiber towels with each order that includes a headlight protection kit or smoked taillight kit! (an average combined value of ~30%!)

Weekend Update. A few Christmas shipping deadlines. If you are looking to get your Headlight Armor lighting protection kits by Christmas, Monday the 19th is our deadline for APO Express orders. Thursday the 19th is the cutoff for Domestic Priority (and the last day to get your free towels with a headlight or taillight kit) and Friday is the cutoff for Domestic Express.

Chevrolet Corvette C6 Z06 gets its headlights protected with our Headlight Armor Clear Headlight Protection Kit. After many miles and a good number of track miles the headlights were still in good shape, but did have some pitting. The adhesive from the kit tended to fill in the surface imperfections and resulted in a clearer looking light that was now protected from further erosion. Win win.

Saturday Update: Hope everybody had a great Valentines day ;) We had a busy Friday and were able to get out all orders that came in before 3PM CT! If you placed an order earlier than that, it is on its way. Monday is Presidents day, so orders in transit will have some delay. Also with the big snow in the south and east coast, USPS is reporting some delays there as well. USPS will be closed for Presidents day, so weekend orders will begin shipping on Tuesday. All weekend orders should ship our by Wednesday, so most domestic customers will have their orders by the weekend.

Tonight, February 26, 2013, starting at 11:59pm ET and ending approximately at 2:59am ET on February 27 our servers are going to be getting a cart software upgrade. Answered a couple of customer email’s yesterday about bubbles and the potential for bubbles when applying our lighting protection kits and thought I would share some thoughts.
Air bubbles or water bubbles are usually a result of one of (or a combination of) three things: Insufficient water on the lens / adhesive side of the material, insufficient squeegee pressure, or getting the material too hot during application. If you see a bubble during the application process, no need to worry. All bubbles can be removed during the application process by lifting the area past where the bubble is, re-spraying with water and re-squeegeeing with additional squeegee pressure. The material and adhesive are pretty forgiving all things considered.

After the fact, if you do notice see you left some bubbles, again no need to worry too much, most of the time the bubbles will settle out over time. If it looks like they are small bubbles you can press them down little by little over time (daily) and they can be flattened out. We left a quarter sized water bubble for a dealer display a while back and had them do the same so they could explain the process and show the results to customer who came into their shop. I would really give it a few weeks as almost all we have seen have worked themselves out over time. How long will depend on how hot it is and the overall humidity level. Cold and damp is going to take a while longer than warm and dry.
Patience is key, no worries really.

Vacation Notice:
Headlight Armor will be closed for spring vacations from Monday April 7th – Friday April 18th. Orders received by 3PM CDT Friday April 4th will ship before we close. Orders received while we are closed will begin shipping on Monday April 21st. We will be working batches of orders in the order in which they were placed. First in First out. We anticipate being able to process and ship all the orders taken while we are gone by Friday April 25th, dependant of course on demand while we are out.
