Oh my

Not trying to be a buzzkill, but it's probably just a renewal.
Similar to how Z28 was renewed last year. |
Let's be optimistic. :pray2:
GM already surprised us with this significant revolutionized :stingray: ! |
I say they're going to be giving us a new 427 badged the L88 and it'll do 600hp!!

Nice, I can not wait to see if this turns into something good.

Replacement for the LS7? For the next Z06?

I've heard about the term LT4 being used for a C7 engine too.
C4 engine nomenclature again? :) |

So you think GM might do the same with the 5th gen LT1 to offer with the next Zxx? From what I've read, they added different heads and intake manifold and changed a few items on the bottom end on the old LT1's to make it an LT4. |
Yes please:pop2:

LS3 got an overhaul and is now the LT1.
Could the LS7 get a similar overhaul for a Stingray Z06 and be designated the L88? I think there is a high possibility. |
I'll hold off and wait and see if they do anything with the Z/28 stuff from a year or so ago. It could be a marketing plan to keep aftermarket companies from producing badges and cutting them out of the licensing fees.
|
I think that the L88 will definitely be a 427 HO V8 for the C7 and not just a means to keep these old engine designations from being snapped up by the aftermarket. GM is also using L83 for the 5.3 and L86 for the 6.2 2014 V8 truck engines, so it makes perfect sense to apply L88 for the LS7 replacement in the C7.
