adding OEM mudguards

got these for xmas...

If you have never modded before, this should be your first, as it is soooo easy - took all of 3 min per flap. The car is designed for this changeout. Under the car is one 7MM bolt that unscrews...then use your fingernails to get behind the top or bottom of the flap and pull gently...Look at how it's coming off, and put the new one on the same way...and I see many say, "why did they not put these on at the factory?" - simple - they want to sell accessories! Forget all the part numbers - email Patrick with 4 words : "Price me c7 mudgards"

Glen speaks the truth about this mod...I am the most mechanically UN-inclinded guy around and I did this myself with no problems.

bnall40 12-27-2013 09:55 PM

thanks I'll do the same

zimm888 12-27-2013 10:57 PM

Do these go over the 'felt'? Do you notice increased road noise? How black are they or are they more grey? Do they stand out like cheap plastic? Sry for the 21 questions.

DocHolliday 12-28-2013 05:43 AM

They look and fit exactly like the standard pieces, color is identical. They just have the added "lip" for protection.

purpleRac3r 12-29-2013 10:47 AM

I just installed these yesterday - took all of 10 minutes total for the set if 4. You don't even have to jack the car up. A couple of notes: first, if you don't have a 7mm socket or wrench, a 9/32" will work. The two are virtually the same size. Second, in the rear there are 3 identical bolts underneath each side, 2 outboard, 1 inboard. You want the inboard bolts. The outboards hold the diffuser to the fascia.

I have not noticed any change in wind noise or fuel mileage with about 100 miles since installing them.

Glen e,
This will be my first mod once the car arrives. Thanks for posting.

Took delivery of my Stingray on March 4th and installed the splash guards on the 6th. Very easy mod. Thanks to Glen for posting photos showing how easy it was. :thumb:

Jamie Mac 04-20-2014 11:40 PM

Very easy. Did them the same day I installed the spoiler

scott53 05-16-2014 02:41 PM

Installed them on mine today. Very easy installation. They look good and should help reduce chips. Money and time well spent.

mowilson329 05-16-2014 07:53 PM

Yep, did mine a couple of weeks ago. Definitely one of the easiest mods ever.

So if you look on my other post on must have add ons, a few people have commented on how crappy the GM splash guards are, then on 2 other threads I noticed the exact same comment, how bad the guards hold up, or they are completely thrashed. Normally I would just assume driving habits but when I count more than 5 people making the same comment, I assume some truth to it?

This is the splash guards everyone is suggesting, since you have the GM one, can you look at these for me Glen and comment if you understand what the difference is? My C7 is arriving in 3 weeks so Im getting ready want to get all the stuff I need.

I've had mine for several thousand miles and have no real complaints. Will they prevent every single rock from hitting the paint? No. The only way to prevent that is not drive the car. Do they help? Yes, to a certain extent. They noticeably reduce the amount of road grime that gets on the sides of the car if you get caught in the rain. They also reduce the amount of road debris flipped off the tires that hits the car, especially higher up the side. They don't do much for debris flipped out down low, as they don't extend down any farther than the stock pieces. I'm working on a mod for them that will help in that department, but I haven't had much chance to look at it yet. Mostly just idea brainstorming.

agreed..You have to strike a compromise between good looks and SUV-like protection. the GM flap does that, if you want coverage beyond that, use Xpel behind the wheel areas that get bashed.

purpleRac3r 07-11-2014 04:40 PM

Dada, I got mine from my dealer. I get supplier pricing on parts and accessories since they also sponsor my Corvette club. Several online vendors also sell them, and you can get them color matched to you car as well.

Dada...did you get these yet? Did you get the painted ones? Just curious as to how long it took to get them. I have a set on order.

Dada 07-29-2014 01:30 PM

Yes they did, took about 2 weeks, but I don't have the car yet.

Picking up this weekend
