Hello Chris, Yes, the ZL1 FLowtie is molded within the ZL1 upper grill and the only way to gain the Flowtie is to buy the entire upper grill. I did indeed cut the Flowtie (black) base from the grill. The chrome part of the Flowtie is essentially plastic welded to the base and can easily be removed from that black base in order to make a modifications, to paint for example. I then epoxied the chrome piece back to the black base.

I was lucky to find a lightly damaged ZL1 upper grill here on the forums.
