So how good are you guys at getting close to the edge? I find it hard to estimate how close the car is to the edge of the pavement. For the last 3 months whenever I have been on a highway or road that has raised reflectors down the dashed or solid line, I carefully move my car over until it is riding on the reflectors. bump-bump-bump. I am always amazed because it feels like my car is half in the other lane. But it is a good way to learn where your car is visually when your tires start running over the bumps.
Any other ideas for how to learn how close your car is to the edge of the pavement?

seat time and more seat time....taking it easy on a new course or even a few laps into a course that you know and tracking out just a tad further where applicable until you either feel the edge of the zebra or see a cloud of dust kick up

I like that idea SSSoon.
My instructor told me that my biggest flaw was that it didn't go as wide as the track.
I think it as to do with that...i will try it!

I have done a lot of autocross and it has help my track feel a great deal. There is no better way to know where your 4 corners are than avoiding the cones on a nice, tight autocross course. You also get to practice sharp turns to see where your grip points are, how much under or oversteer your setup has. It also costs less (not by the minute, but by event). You can also find lots of autocross events being sponsored by lots of car clubs. This has worked for me. Totally agree with the seat time statement.
