So I wanted to see what you really thought of the 1le or ss on track. I know its heavy monster but how does it hang with the m3's, 4wd imports, etc? Did you drive anything else on the track prior to your 1le or ss? I used to run a c5 z06 and currently an e46 m3. I'm getting cold feet thinkin the 1le won't be as track worthy as they say, mainly due to weight. And when I read and watch the reviews I feel like its a great car compared to the exsisting ss for some reason now. I also have not seen one out here in the NE tracking. Would love your unbiased thoughts on tracking the car. Mine arrives next week and want to make the right decisions. You guys seem like the few on hear that actually has some experience. I really like my SS, but have put a lot into it (suspension, bigger wheels and tires probably made the biggest difference). I have a dozen track days under my belt and so am no expert at this. I have no idea how well it would run against those in the red or black run groups. Will hopefully let you know in a year or so

With a supercharger, my car smokes. Power to weight ratio similar to a Z06. Had it out once at Summit Point and was very happy with it, although the weather was cold and the tires weren't gripping all that well. I don't think I will have any problem keeping up with the Vettes at VIR. Honestly, at my level it is more driver than car and the driver still needs more upgrades.

I got the Camaro in part because I need to take kids to school in it. In 5 years I will probably upgrade to a 2 seater. But for now I am having an absolute blast in it.

I think you would really enjoy the 1LE on the track. I took my 1LE to Summit Point Motorsports (http://www.summitpoint-raceway.com/) and it handled great. I also have an E36 M3 with fully adjustable (great!) suspension and the comparison was very good. I think the track is where it's best at. This past weekend I took it out for it's first Autocross and it is NOT an autocross car. It is too heavy to move gingerly enough at those low speeds. At track speeds and turns, it is awesome.

its all about driver on road course. the car is very capable and with some easy and affordable mods becomes a beast.

i have passed ferarris, lambo, porsche, vettes, gtr, imports etc etc. i should not have been faster than most those cars but i am not driving a car that costs as much as a house and am not afraid of the car.

Agree with SPCBA. I run my SS in the intermediate and advanced groups with pretty good success. SS in stock form probably not a great performer on most tracks. Some upgrades in power and suspension really wake the car up. The 1LE is probably all there in the suspension area but power improvements would make it a monster on most tracks. I would say the Z/28 is the way to go with an LS7 designed for that style of driving and some weight reduction. Bottom line, you can have a lot of fun in the Camaro at the road courses and it is even more satisfying when you do pass some of the more exotic cars. Smaller/tighter tracks can present a handicap from the weight penalty of the Camaro while bigger tracks really allow you to pounce.

I echo the above. My SS is 98% stock (CAI and GMPP Exhaust) and I pass late model M3's, ZO6's, and have hung tight with GT3's. I run in the intermediate / advanced group at Pacific Raceways and I can tell you that there is still more car than skill even at this point. I will go to a PFADT Stage 3 within the next year and then to different wheels and tires then new rotors and brakes but the car is not what is limiting my lap times at this point.

Just ran the 1LE today for the first time. I was very pleased. I'm used to heavy rear wheel drive cars with my past GT500 and Roush 427 Trak Pak. Here is a clip from the first session.
