Since I have replaced my stock air box with a Cold Air Induction and my stock exhaust with Flowmaster Hushpower mufflers, I have been worried about taking her into the Dealer for service work. I was afraid that the Service Manager would immediately tell me that I have voided my factory power train warranty. So, I have been performing my own oil changes and other maintenance until this past week.
I have now put 35K miles on my car and the factory bumper to bumper warranty will expire at 36K. I have noticed a noise in the AC/Heat blower fan motor and it has been getting louder and louder as time went on. It sounds like a cricket under the dash squeaking when the fan is at low speeds. Many forum threads here on camaro5.com have discussed this same problem and dealers are replacing the fan motors without problems. So, I decided to take my car in to have the fan replaced before the bumper to bumper warranty runs out.
My Dealer is here locally in Northern Calif. I was very apprehensive about the modifications I made and didn’t say anything about them. I just dropped my car off explaining that there was a fan motor noise and I needed an oil change.
A call came in later that day saying that my car was ready to pick up. I was about as nervous as a kid going to the Dentist. When I walked into the Service Manager’s office, he looked straight at me and asked where did I get the cool Air Intake System? That was the cleanest design he has ever seen and he thought it was an awesome addition to both performance and looks. He also wanted to know what type mufflers I installed because my Camaro was the best sounding one he has ever heard. He complained that GM really missed the boat in regards to the muffler design.
With all this said, I point blank asked if he had a problem with the mods and if I void my warranty with them. His response floored me… “This is what this car was made for” He said. IF problems ever arose, he said he would ask me to install the original equipment back on and see if the mods were the problem. He cautioned me to keep all the original parts just in case. Other than that he said to mod away!
Now my worries are no more.

That's awesome news. I've been worried about the same thing. That's one of the reasons why I have putting off doing anything to mine. Even though my dealer lives across the street from me. Guess I should go ask if that would be a problem with him too. Maybe I'll have Sam bake some cookies and have my daughter take them to him when I pop the question. Lol!

BTW Garrett has done some mods to his as well and they look awesome. Can't wait to see them in person.

I purchased my car from a Ford Dealer in Illinois and he offered me an extended bumper to bumper warranty for $1,500. I took it because he said that the aftermarket headers, exhaust, and air intake would not void the warranty and even though it is a Ford warranty that they could work on the Chevy at any Ford dealership. I took the car in to Corning Ford to have something minor taken care of and all they said was when they started the car up every mechanic in the place dropped what they were doing to come see the car. I was waiting for a lecture or a "So sorry but your warranty is void now" but all I got was a high five. Pretty cool.

Yes, Corning Ford/Chevy happens to be my Dealer too! The same guy, Benny Brown owns both dealerships. They are an awesome group of people and they take care of their own...

good advice i've kept every original peice so far. Next meet up is show off our cars time! lol we haven't done that yet! i'd like to hear all your exhausts and see you're mods
