Buying new vs used

Personal opinion:

I have always been one to buy used because of how much cars depreciate in value within the first few years. However, I may be willing to purchase this car new. Reasons being:

- supposedly having a power train warranty up to 100k miles and including track use.
- new electronic features will be much more expensive to fix
- first time chevy has really ventured into the luxury department, how well will the reliability really be?

Other reasons in my head, but in general, I am not trying to smack talk the new corvette at all. I AM IN LOVEEEEEE, but with all of the new fancy features this car will have, i'm worried that there may be some quirks to work out for the first couple of years and even though Chevy hasn't really had a terrible track record for reliability, they haven't exactly had a good one. They really have no trcak record for electrical reliability because the corvette has always been a bare bone sports car as opposed to an electronic powerhouse sportscar with a touch of luxury.

Thoughts?

You could always wait about a year after the launch and try to find a nice used one. You will be surprised on how many there might be. Some people just fall in love with the car because of the looks and don't even realize what they just bought so they go and trade it in for something else. If you find one like that it will still have plenty of warranty and still be like new.

Q3 2014... bet that's when we'll see some fair negotiable prices for both new and pre-owned C7's especially in base form.

My game plan will probably be to pick one up a year or two after release. Basically brand new and a couple thousand less than MSRP.

My main concern is, how well will all of the new technology and electronics that Chevy is implementing perform and how reliable is it all going to be? Only time will tell.

A lot of the new MyLink system in Corvette is trickled down from CUE in Cadillacs, which has been around for close to a year now and has already seen its share of improvements.

Another question: how beat up might a used vette be? I heard lots of warning talk about picking up a used ZL1 due to improper or rough break-in by the original owner.

I'd love to pick up one of these, but I won't buy a new one. IF I were to seriously look at one of these, I'd have to wait until 2015 at the earliest.

Probably a bit, but the car is designed for it.

And my take on it, is look I'm going to do the same thing to the car so I can't judge others for doing it.

Me I'm going to try and pick up a 2016 or leftover 2015 late in Summer 2015.

I've never PERSONALLY seen a vette driver dog their car. I've even revved at a couple drivers as they stared blankly forward probably listening to the likes Barry manilow.

They poke around drive slow and rarely wave. I would totally buy from one of these older gentleman without worry. I doubt they've ever seen triple digits in it....on purpose anyways.

I would pull the trigger on a used one... Regardless if someone drive this car hard or not, they are still going to take care of it more than the average joe. Plus as has been said before....this car can handle it

Not to mention the car is even warrantied for track use, as long as nothing, absolutely nothing is changed, tires etc....

But picking up new from the museum would be so sweet.

I swear I'd do an Irish dance in the parking lot like I did when I bough my ss. Embarrassed the hell out of my girl but I didn't give a dang.

That's the stuff dreams are made of. And I hope to be a part of it.......and I will be doing my river dance bit in the parking lot.
