What do you think the first Special Edition Stingray should be?

I think they should come out with the Duntov edition. A Stingray with every high performance option available. And be a preview of the next Z06.

No special editions at all, it's a Corvette, not a toy.

Pretty good chance it'll stay Z06. Z06 is an RPO code just like Z71, Z28, Z51, etc. It doesn't change with generations, in fact Z07 already existed as an options package for the C6 Z06.

The Corvette has had several special editions during it's existence.
Like all the pace car editions, anniversary editions, this years 427 convertible.
I bet the Stingray will be chosen the Pace Car for the Indy 500 again. It could even be this year, but more than likely it will be 2014.

I wouldn't mind seeing another Ron Fellows edition, minus the huge mark up.

Regarding high performance variants...

The Grand Sport, Z06, and ZR1 are really not special editions as they were normal production models spanning several years. A special edition is a model or option package that is available usually in one model year for a limited production run.

The Grand Sport was a special edition in 1996.

When's the next "anniversary" year? 65th Anniversary in 2018?

I imagine the Indy Pace Car edition will happen before that

its a no brainer. The secial edition or z06 should be the transformers version. If it ever comes out I will sell the c7 that I'm getting.

At least 5-6 years?

I haven't paid attention, but has GM been consistent with each corvette generation's life cycle length?

No the shortest was the C2 at 5 years. The C1 was 10 years, the C3 was 14 years, the C4 was 13 years, the C5 was 8 years and the C6 has been 9 years.
So really there has been no consistency in number of model years per generation. It only adds up to 59 years because there was no 83 model.

I think it will be a solid 8 years, GM does a pretty good job at updating the car throughout it's models. C6 got a transmission upgrade in 2006, engine upgrade in 2007, ZR1 in 2009, Grandsport I believe came out in 2010/2011.
