Actually, that sounds great to me. I live in MD so laser is a concern (Maryland State Police, Howard County and other in state agencies). DC and Va, of course, outlaw detectors period. Right now I'm running an Escort 9500ix and love it. Thinking very seriously about a perm install for the 'Vette. I'm lazy and want the "it's already there you idiot" convenience factor. Plus, due to DC and Virginia considerations ( I commute to DC occasionally and go back to Richmond as well), I need to be invisible to RDD and as stealthy as possible not having the detector slapped up in the windscreen with a cord hanging down for the whole world to see. A C7 is going to scream 'give me a ticket' to every cop around anyway.

I was stationed at Marine Barracks Washington, D.C. for a couple years, I am very familiar with that area, and the nuances of getting away with speeding in the area. Keep in mind Virginia State Police have devices to detect the use of radar detectors. While I didn't know that at the time, and never got pulled over for using mine, I would be mighty careful operating one in Virginia in the future. Escort makes a model called the Redline, which is "stealthed" to the detector the police use, but I don't know if you can do a permanent install with it. Maryland just used lasers as far as the troopers go, so that's when the jammer would really come in handy. The GPS features on the 9500ix and the new Escort Max make staying clear of those speed cameras and red light cameras a breeze in D.C. It's just unfortunate you can't get the stealth features with a permanent install that also includes the gps features. Just not out there.

I know. :( The Escort 9500ci installed gives you the ability to mark a known location. But no, it's not going to have the database that the 9500ix does. Everything else though is covered - laser jamming, X, K, Ka protection, invisible to RDD (radar detector detector). The Spectre Elite is the model most used by VSP. Rule #1 of electronic warfare, know thy enemy. What I might end up doing is getting a rear view mirror mount, hardware a new Escort Max into a power source up there and then hope Dashtronix comes up with a C7 package soon (projects your alert displays onto either the HUD or DIC in the C6). That would hopefully cover all the existing threats. Don't really have to worry much about rear jammers because Maryland State Troopers (like most) are trained to use your front plate as their aiming point for LIDAR guns. Escort already has on their website that the ZR4 shifters will integrate with Passport Max so should be good to there.

And honestly, I might just stick with the 9500ci because red light cameras and speed cameras/trucks are primarily Montgomery County (Silver Spring) along with Columbia. I don't drive in the District if I can take Metro instead (Caps games, Georgetown, Nats, etc.). Have to see how the Max tests out once production units get into real motorists hands.

Looking for the power at the mirror for my C7 and Passport Max. Unlike my C6 where the mirror wires are in a fibergalss type sheath, in the C7 they are in the tube that holds ine mirror and not accessable. There is no plug visible. doen't look easy to remove the mirror and even if you could not sure how too get 2 wires out. If you or anyone finds a way to power it without going to a fuse blox or down the side, would like to know.

Almost any radar detector:
One C7 owner used the auxiliary power plug in the center console. (The console auxiliary power plug turns off with the car.) He plugged into it and ran the wire from inside the console. The wire went down and out from under the console door on the passenger side. This way the console door could stay shut. From there, he ran the wire under the molding in the passenger footwell area and eventually up the passenger side A pillar. Then the wire went across the top to just behind the rear view mirror. He said that it took him about 10 minutes. He was very happy!

That's my intent, as soon as I can find a mount. Valentine 1 & C7 are both in my garage, just not together. All hardware mounting suggestions are encouraged.

If you want the best get a V1 but that's only part of the picture. Lazer Jammers are the other part but very illeagal in most places. Also there is alot of sceptism about Lazer Jammers effectivness.

I think if anyone does their homework, they will find that almost every detector gives less false alarms than the V-1......I will say this....playing with the radar and laser on the C7 vs C6....C7 gives a strong signal further out than the C6....it may be the fact that the old radiator was tilted differently than the C-7....just guessing on that part but the signal return is stronger on the C7.....Just FYI

The V-1 providing more false alarms is because it is more sensitive in general. That's one of the draws. You very quickly adapt and know what is a not signal and what is a real signal.

I cant use or recommend one.......and I didnt know that you get accustom to the alerts on the V1 so I learned something- the guy that has a Lambo just installed that 9500 CI I think thats it....like 1400.00 plus install (he has 1800 in it) WOW. I know that had to hurt

Isn't radar pretty much 20th century these days? All the police departments around me are using Laser, not radar anymore. Last time I use one, I detected just about everything but a police car!

I think it depends on where you are at- very few Lidars here and the limitations are you have to be sitting still, and cant shoot through tinted glass, etc.....so "instant on" radar (if the officer uses it properly) is the death here.......
