Looking to buy C3 Corvette

Hi all,

I am looking to buy a C3 corvette preferably 1980+ model with decent miles on it. I currently own a 2016 Camaro and this Corvette will be my weekend driver or a project car. Looking for manual transmission.
Can someone here tell me about the reliability, maintenance costs, insurance etc. for a C3 Corvette.
I appreciate your response!

If you want a C3 think in terms of 68-72. Beyond 72 to 82 emissions and safety took their tole in gutless performance, add-on bumpers and excessive weight. The C5 introduced in 84 sorted those issues out. If you must, 1980-82 would be my second choice. Good luck.

Good advice, the chrome bumpers (68-72) are the ones to buy! They will grow in value faster than the other later C3 models.

I've had an '81 4 spd for 26 years and counting. Sure it's slower then a turtle next to my C7 but It's a great cruiser. Buy the best one you can afford and enjoy it. You can buy a project but it will cost you more fixing it up then buying a stellar candidate to begin with.
