From all I have heard from customers. They want updated power-trains, specifically the transmissions, bigger cabin, more tech features, rear HVAC. I am also hoping that the surround vision will make an appearance in the new trucks.

The full document the OP found this on was posted, and it's a North American engine production forecast cooked up by some industry analysis group. Which means it's completely subject to speculation. However, there are some interesting tidbits in it. The OP incorrectly interpreted it first, the forecast lists predicted volume of production in 100000s, whereas he thought it meant chance of production. So if you saw a powertrain system listed at 000 (for example, the 4.2L TTV8 for the CT6 and Cadillac sports car), it's not that there's no chance for production, it's that those are just super low volume cars. So anyways, here's what we can learn from it, and remember, none of this should be taken as 100% fact, plus it won't include engines built outside North America (IE 2.7L Duramax in Thailand). This is also a metric ****ton of data to sift through so I might miss things here or there....new stuff is bold, which is most of it. It is odd, but I like it more than their Desert Fox concept they also showed this week.

I almost wonder if the 2.7L is a diesel. It's showing up in the trucks as well as the Camaro. And as a diesel, it wouldn't have to rev very fast which would be a bit of a problem with a 4 cylinder that big.
The little I3 makes a certain amount of sense compared to the same size 4 cylinder. The engine can be made a lot lighter, and the parts are easier to share.

Maybe the 2.7 is a large 4 banger hybrid.

I believe the 3.0L V6 listed under the T1XXs is a diesel. The supposed 2.7L I4 will be a turbo.
Again though, this could all be a total crock of ****. We'll have a better idea of how accurate it is when the first products on that list (Silverado/Sierra) debut.

The 3.0L 6 cylinder is showing to be an inline 6 and not a V6 on the forcasted engine chart but it also shows a 4.3L V6 with 36 valves, both on this new engine series CSS by GM. The 3.0L 6 is thought to be the new Silverado Diesel designed with help from Europe but destined to built in the states.
