On that note, Bowling Green Assembly has now been shut down for "paint shop upgrades."

There’s a raised portion on the car’s short snout that looks like a covered heat extractor mounted horizontally on top of the car’s nose, which is odd for a mid-engine layout.
This part doesn't make a lot of sense. The Ford GT has the front end vents, yet it isn't a hybrid. It could just be a way to get air out from under the front of the car.

Haven't Corvettes been considered mid-engine since they were first intoduced?
50/50 weight distribution.

When we went to visit in 2012 we were taken on a guided tour that showed us tarps. OTOH, the Corvette museum was incredible and well worth your time if you ever have the chance. It has nothing to do with GM, it is privately owned by the Corvette Collecters Club, but GM does contribute to it. If you ever want to see how a round 6" diameter high strength steel pipe is turned into a rectangular frame rail, that's where you will find it.

I could be mistaken on this one (don't hang me), but a thought a 'mid-engined' car is, technically speaking, any car that has the engine between the 2 axles... So it doesn't necessarily have to be behind the driver...

I believe that's correct. It's not what most people think of when "midengine" gets thrown around though.

Did a quick search, yup it seems properly the engine needs only be centrally located between the front and rear axles. I've just heard that describing an engine right behind the driver in every case. Now I guess we can continue to argue about muscle/sports car status of the Camaro.

that would be a performance hybrid right? I don't think GM would be worried about fuel economy with this car lol
curious how they will incorporate the hybrid system

Hybrids aren't just good for fuel economy. Electric motors have massive, instant torque and can spin ridiculously high. I'm always surprised when I hop in a Yukon hybrid and take off without thinking about it.

Oh yeah and the best bit is only one moving part. If they do make a hybrid I wonder how it would stack up against the P1, LaF, and 918 Spyder.

Chevrolet salesman claims to have photos of the rear quarter panels of the midengined car. Starts around 8:50 in.
