I still have a copy of the magazine with that pic. on the cover...it's in my 'Camaro Returns' treasure chest.

As for the Camaro being able to go head to head with the Shelby...no worries. From what I've "heard", it's FORD that'll be worrying.

the camaro definately has one of the meanest looks out of the 3 of those cars. and it has the most potential than the others. chevy knows what the gt500 has in it and if they really want to they can put any kind of motor in it to compete. there is no way that mustang is goingto be faster and better than the camaro. were starting with a clean slate. they already have theres built

why do folks care about a split second difference in accelleration? that is starting to seem irrelevant.

what should really matter is which car is better to own in the real world especially if the car becomes your daily driver.

If the camaro comes with IRS like they stated, and maybe other stuff like cylinder deactivation, chances are the camaro might actually "BE" a better car overall regardless of acceleration numbers.

to me you have to take a long list of other things into account before you actually buy anything. I hope the new camaro is better than the mustang, which is how I felt the comparison WAS when the 67 Camaro was released. that camaro was stylish as is the new one.

because every car when tested they do a 0-60 test. no matter what it is. people want to know how fast it will get you up to traffic speed . say from a stop to getting on a highway. you have to get up to speed with the traffic befroe you just jump in front of someone. and becasue the car is powerful and numbers will bring buyers.the mustang is a huge competator in this race and any edge over it is going to be a big plus in sales and reviews. like i sadi before if you wantto worry about gas mileage and fuel economy and things like that ...... go buy a civic

IMO, numbers "matter", on paper. What I mean by that is, people want to see how the car they like/want compares to the competition.

In reality though, even though "your" car's numbers may be better than the competition, factors like driver ability, can affect how a car performs. It doesn't help if your cars 0-60 times are better if you don't know how to drive the car to get the maximum benefits.

So, I hope I didn't offend anyone, or create a huge debate. Numbers are important, but there are also many other items to take into consideration to determine a cars performance, capability, and superiority.

Just remember, "there's always someone faster than you out there." Enjoy whatever you own, and don't worry what they guy next to you drives and what his car can do.
