MyLink display died?
I have a 2011 RS vert with the Gen5DIY replacement 2013 MyLink w/ nav upgrade that was done a little over a year ago. This morning I fired her up via remote start, and when I got in the MyLink screen was dead - the radio itself works, all the other buttons and A/C controls work as far as I can determine with no display, but the screen is stone dead. I've since shut off and restarted the car several times with no change.
So the questions: Before I pull the dash apart, is there a way to do a full reset of the system when you can't see what you're doing onscreen? (I.e. some combination of buttons pressed together, etc.) If not, will pulling the fuse(s) fully reset the unit? Thanks! |

I think if you contact onstar, they can reset it. Never done it though so I'm not too sure

OK, fixed it, at least for now, by disconnecting the battery for 5 minutes. (That's easier than taking the trunk half apart to get to the fuse block.) The unit didn't even lose my presets (thank you, NOVRAM) but did lose all the music copied in from my USB stick.
The research I've done on this seems to indicate that there may have been a head unit firmware update to address this issue back in the 2014/15 timeframe, but it may not have completely cured the problem. I'm assuming that the unit I got from Gen5DIY has the latest firmware, so I'm discounting any firmware update as a fix - and GM has long since stopped updating or offering new nav maps for these 2013-vintage units, apparently thinking it's more important to incentivise a new purchase than it is to support your existing customers for the long term. Sigh... If this only happens once a year or two, I can live with it. If it becomes frequent, I may have to reconsider an aftermarket unit w/ Android Auto support. I prefer the "stock" factory look, but I'm also tired of my phone hanging on a mag mount in order to use Waze... |

I got mine From Gen 5 DIY and no problem so far, Got a 13 version from them. could use a maps update but even my Droid could use one.
GM should have put these in the 10's anyhow
