10% ethenol performance?

What is the performance affect, if any, when using fuel with 10% ethenol? All the gas in western NY has 10% ethenol so there seems to be no choice. I have an LS3 and I was wondering if the fuel trims from GM account for this mix. Any experts out there?

All US engines can use 10% ethanol. You won't experience any significant performance change, but more of your fuel will be contributing to the American economy this way. If you have the option of E10, always take it to support your neighbors.

no performance bump at all.....the only difference at all is your mileage will suffer over gas with on ethenol.

So am I to assume that in some parts of the country there is a choice between the 2? If so, by choosing the E10 I may sacrifice a little fuel mileage but support the corn growers, without any performance loss, correct? I wonder which fuel type the EPA uses when figuring mileage ratings....hmm!

Worse gas mileage with ethanol.

Ethanol contains less energy per volume then gas.

Plus I'm not sure about the newer engines, but older engines are actually damaged by the ethanol.

Actually, if your engine was tuned for the blend, you could possibly see an increase in performance and mileage since ethanol benefits more with the higher compression engines.

I can tell you your mpg go down with Ethenol my 06 Silverado was getting great mpg for a 6.0L truck I was getting 18mpg and over the last 6-7 months it has gone down to 12mpg (checked fuel filter, air filter, air in tires nothing) :(

I usually use the 100% gasoline. My Dodge Ram gets 1-1.5 mpg less with the 10% blend. Haven't checked the SS yet.

You're all missing the point. Who cares about the fuel efficiency? With all due respect, this is a muscle car forum. Our classic 350s never got decent gas mileage, so why do we suddenly consider gasoline based on the efficiency?

The real reason to get ethanol is to keep it American. If you have the option to support your neighbors, then you should take the opportunity to do so. Support your farmers. Buy ethanol.

Can't tune in compression.
