The K&N 71-3092 Blackhawk Induction Air Intake System is a free-flowing, mandrel-bent aluminum tube air intake system that is guaranteed to gain power. It replaces the restrictive factory air filter and air intake housing on specific Chevrolet Camaro SS models. This low restriction air intake allows your engine to inhale a larger amount of air than it would from the stock air intake. More air means more power and acceleration. This K&N Blackhawk Induction Air Intake System comes with black components including the K&N high-flow air filter with heat shield. The attractive textured black powder-coated tube features a welded, engraved K&N plate giving you a clean, high-performance look under the hood. The intake tube accommodates the factory mass air sensor and crank case vent hose. The oversized cone shaped air filter is made from an oil-free synthetic filter media that can be used for up to 100,000 miles before cleaning is needed depending on driving conditions. This air intake is relatively easy to install usually in 90 minutes or less using the existing factory mounting points using commonly available tools. Some K&N Blackhawk Induction Systems are not legal for sale or use in California and other states adopting California emission standards while others are 50 state legal. View the 71-3092 vehicle applications to determine the legal status for each vehicle.

I don't see a sound tube in the pictures. Looks like a delete is your only option

The logo being at an angle instead of straight with the car looks absolutely terribleble to me.

The 20HP claim is very misleading.

1. From the dyno chart they provided, there is NO gain in max power.
2. Gain is shown below 5k rpm, but NO gain above 5k rpm. If the stock airbox was a restriction, I'd expect a less restrictive aftermarket unit to have the biggest benefit at higher engine speeds and air flows.

I've put CAIs on the last 5 cars I've owned but based on what I've seen written here and other places the 6 gen Camaro air box design is pretty darn good to start with. Right now I'm thinking a high flow filter may be my upgrade this time around.

Even that is debatable. When I had my Coyote Mustangs a very reputable shop did back to back to back testing and even repeated it over a few days with the stock paper Motorcraft filter, K&N, AFE and some other one I can't recall. They were all within 1 or 2 rwhp, but the K&N was the worst, and the others were all nearly the same. I think the highest pull was the stock Motorcraft. So in many cases a clean OEM filter is the best bet. Only exception may be if AFE makes a larger surface drop in like they now do for the S197 Mustangs that is like a panel, with a small cone on the bottom.
