To start a new thread, go to the section you want to post it in and on the top left there's an icon that says "New Thread", click it and you are good to go.

3K sound a bit steep.

The alternative is the cost to have the front fender painted before you resell the car and just do touch-up along the way. Compare the costs and your personal tolerance for small rock chip dings.

My old C5 and current C6 are not prone to getting hood chips like my wife's Porsche. My car has about 40k miles on it so far and the dings are not really all that much! Maybe one or two that you can really see and you have to be close to see them. I've been behind the horrible gravel trucks and amazingly I survive. Mind you, I don't stay behind them very long.

So do the math and really consider your tolerance. The answer will then be very clear which way to go!

Congrats on the new C7

Hi all,
Figured i'd resurrect this thread.
My C7 Z51 Laguna Blue is bayed...hopefully it will ship soon!
Anyways, I've been trying to decide what is the best way to protect the paint from chips, bugs, etc...
Called a few places where I live and for the "clear bra" stuff, they are quoting around $2400!!!
Not really feeling spending that amount for that.
Are there any other alternatives out there that will help protect but not cost so much?
Has anyone used that 3M Paint Defender Spray?
Thanks for all the input, it's been great reading all the threads on this forum!

Hi Glen,
When you say front end, would that just be: partial hood, bumper, side mirrors and fender? Or just the partial hood and bumper would do?
Thanks for the response!

sit down on the ground 10 feet in front of your car - look at the grille - cover everything you see except the the hood and top fenders, in other words, the front of the car...where the rocks hit. Don't go crazy, this will do fine...an xpel installer will know what you want.

Another paint protection product is Xzylon. Has been on my Odyssey for two years and finish looks show room new. Paid an arm and a leg to the Honda dealer for the application ($850) and later found that most of the cost is for insurance. Honda dealer recently did my C7 for $100 - no insurance. Very pleased with that!
