Moving to Florida!!

I just found out today, that my next assignment is going to be at Tyndall AFB in Panama City, Florida. I am so excited to leave Okinawa and get back to my car. Everyone I have talked to says its a great assignment. My wife and I couldn't be more excited with the choice we have before us. I have five months left here and then a 3300 mile road trip cross country. I can't wait to meet the local Camaro community.

Congratulations!!! You will love Tyndall!!! I was stationed at Kadena with the 909th ARS (KC-135's) for a total of 6 years....(but this was quite a while ago....'89-'91 & '93-'97). I really loved it over there (before I was married), I miss the scuba diving! But I also lived in Mexico City Beach, FL which is just east of Tyndall when I was a kid, when my Dad was stationed at Tyndall. You will love the area. I think Tyndall even has their own Yacht Club!!! It sure would be a lot nicer than where I am now!!! Enjoy your new assignment.......and stay in until retirement....it is sooooooo worth it!!!

First, thank you for your service! Second - Tallahassee-ian here - you'll love it there. The area is beautiful and it's very close to some absolutely beautiful beaches with baby blue water. Panama City Beach can also be A LOT of fun, if you like crowds and activity and such.

Though, I will say the weather can be rough at times. I'm not sure what you are used to at Okinawa, but the humidity and all in Florida during the summer is painful. Either way, congrats!

Congratulations on your orders. I was stationed there from 97-99 and looking back, i miss a lot of things, especially the cusine. Enjoy your remaining time there and the roads of USA awaits for your return.
